Alina heads the Finance department and the Energy and Projects/PPP practices of Filip & Company. She has previously worked in the Bucharest and London offices of a Magic Circle firm and has been involved in projects in several jurisdictions.

Alina has advised on some of the most noteworthy deals in the energy, financial services and infrastructure sectors, including on M&A transactions, corporate restructurings, financing deals (including project finance) and regulatory matters.

Highlights in her activity include assisting:

  • a leading international investment bank in relation to the financing of the acquisition by an investment fund of a real estate loan portfolio granted by Commerzbank with a principal value in excess of EUR 525 million;
  • the leading Romanian oil company, in relation to matters regarding the development of the Brazi combined cycle power plant (the largest private power project in Romania) and the potential accession of the project to various support schemes;
  • a leading European power company in relation to the projects for the development of units 3 and 4 of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant (the largest energy project in Romania) and the Belene nuclear plant in Bulgaria;
  • one of the largest telecommunication operators in CEE on highly successful EUR 450 mn high-yield senior secured bond issue due 2020 and EUR 350 mn senior secured high-yield bond issue due 2024 as well as its RON 1.7 bn syndicated financing, the largest facility ever in RON;
  • a leading Romanian bank in relation to the attempted acquisition of several banking businesses;
  • an international fund in relation to the sale and restructuring of their contractual arrangements for the Fantanele project, the largest onshore windfarm in Europe;
  • the winning consortium composed of two major European infrastructure companies in relation to the PPP agreement for construction of the Comarnic-Brasov motorway (the largest PPP project in Romania);
  • two leading international banks, in their various capacities as arrangers, original lenders and original hedge counterparties in connection with an EUR 67,000,000 project financing to Corni Eolian S.A., a Romanian wind farm developer and operator, and related security package.
